hattrick fun and gripes

areis  2008-01-20 04:05

I am hooked on hattrick. I have a team and I'm doing rather nicely. I'm second in my league and I'm playing for the first spot next week.

I don't think I can make it and get promoted, but hey, this is fun anyway. I keep searching for players to reinforce my team, but the one's I can afford aren't much better than the one's I already have. I promoted a couple of good kids from the junior academy and I hope they can turn a good profit when I sell them.

The main reason for this post is to gripe about the lack of tools for the academy. There are many tools for the senior players. I prefer HO, but I guess others are just as good. HO developers say they are actively working on version 2, curiously known as HO2. But it sure is taking a long time. Meanwhile I am quite happy with the current version. If only it would halp manage my junior academy. It is getting quite hard to remember where the different playes played their best. And whenever a new kid is hired it becomes necessary to shuffle the whole team around in order to find the best position for him. Someone told me about tomattrick . I tried it but after a few games it won't budge and urges me to become a subscriber. It's not expensive (12€ per year) but I'm pissed they didn't say anything about no limit when I first joined. If they had, I might not have joined, or would be now paying their price. This way they won't get a peny. I started using a spreadsheet to write down the current positions. Why oh why won't Hattrick let us have an API for the academy like they do for the senior players?

Just me moaning.... BTW, does anyone have a way to read the html from the players' page as tomattrick does?
